The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was created to set science-based food standards and regulate the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import of food to ensure safe and wholesome food for the human consumption
FSSAI license is mandatory before starting a food business in India. All retailers, manufacturers and restaurants that handle food must have a 14-digit authorization number printed on the food.
To ensure food safety, food companies must implement an effective food safety management system based on hazard analysis, critical control points and appropriate prerequisite programs for effective risk control throughout the process Food Chain , from food production to final food consumption.
